Located at 1150 South Canton Center Road, the Fellows Creek Wetland Nature Trail was once a wide floodplain and meandering streambed with forested banks surrounded by an open prairie. The Fellows Creek Wetland was established to create a more natural stream flow to more efficiently manage storm water while reducing stream bank erosion.  

The result for the visitor to the Fellows Creek Wetland Nature Trail is an outstanding vista to view a natural wetland in the midst of an urban/residential community. The wetland boasts strong populations of frogs, muskrats, ducks, waterfowl, shorebirds, dragonflies, and bats who feast on the high insect density.  Multiple species of butterflies and hummingbirds also frequent the wetland, where they drink the wildflower nectar while laying their eggs on the leaves of native plants. The cattail population in this area is superb, which fosters the construction of muskrat dens that frequent the wetland.

The trail that runs through Fellows Creek Wetland offers visitors a closeup look at the ecology and biology of the wetland. For photography buffs, it offers some great opportunities for unique pictures in a natural setting. Hikers and birders also enjoy the area, for the pristine and unique vistas that the trail affords.

For many people in the Canton area, an evening meal or afternoon nap is an opportunity to be in their favorite green space – their own backyards!
