TURFGRASS FUNGICIDE SERVICES IN MICHIGAN

Turfgrass diseases can cause serious damage if not taken care of. Diseases like Dollar Spot, Red Thread, and others might need to be treated with a turfgrass fungicide to prevent spread of the disease. Below are some pictures of two specific diseases:

DOLLAR SPOT LAWN DISEASE

Dollar Spot Lawn Disease

Dollar spot is an ugly lawn disease caused by a fast-spreading fungus. This disease is most commonly seen in the early summer when night temperatures are at least 50° F. Dollar spot loves extended periods of heavy dew and can even spread throughout the turf over a prolonged period of cooler, overcast days throughout the summer. Identifying dollar spot is pretty easy. The disease is characterized by small circles of straw-colored grass, about the size of a silver dollar. These spots can grow larger and combine with each other into large, irregular-shaped patches of damaged grass. The individual blades of grass will have straw-colored lesions or bands outlined with a red-brown border.

RED THREAD LAWN DISEASE

Red Thread Lawn Disease

Red thread is a lawn disease that develops on the turf after an extended period of high humidity or excess moisture. Lawns are most vulnerable to red thread in the spring and fall, when temperatures are between 65° – 75° F. Red thread is characterized by the long red or pink thread-like growths that appear on the end of infected blades of grass. See example in the image above.
